History

The Arizona National Guard Distinguished Service Medal Ribbon honors members of the Arizona National Guard who distinguish themselves through the performance of heroic or otherwise exceptional acts that do not qualify for the Medal of Valor.

The Arizona National Guard is made up of the Arizona Army National Guard and the Arizona Air National Guard. The Army component was established in 1865 and currently numbers approximately 5,000 soldiers. The Air component dates back to 1946 with the 197th Fighter Squadron; it is currently headquartered in Phoenix.

Details

The ribbon features a vertical stripe of yellow in the center, followed on either side by a thicker blue stripe, thinner yellow stripe, and thin red stripe proceeding outward.
