History

The Arkansas National Guard Medal of Honor recognizes Arkansas National Guard members who carry out acts of heroism, valor, or gallantry in a manner to set themselves apart from their peers and typically involving risk of life.

Approximately 8,000 soldiers are currently serving in the Arkansas Army National Guard, whose training facilities are located near For Smith and in North Little Rock. It was founded in 1804 as a Territorial Militia. The Arkansas Air National Guard, estimated at 2,500 members as of 2009, is based in North Little Rock and dates back to 1917.

Details

The ribbon is dark blue with a vertical white stripe toward each edge. Between the stripes are four white stars.
