History - Established 1973

Created in November of 1973, the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation is the Coast Guard version of the Meritorious Unit Commendation; it honors Coast Guard units that exhibit exceptional conduct while carrying out heroic or valorous acts.

Details

The ribbon is green with a thin vertical light blue stripe in the center flanked on either side by thinner white stripes. Each edge features a thin dark blue stripe followed by a thin white stripe proceeding inward.

Subsequent awards may be indicated by gold stars, and the award may be issued with the Operational Distinguishing Device.
