History - Established 1909

Established on May 11, 1909, the Cuban Pacification Medal honors United States military members who carried out service onshore in Cuba between September 12, 1906 and April 1, 1909. Service attached to designated ships may also qualify as listed below:

Details

The medal is bronze and features the Cuban Coat of Arms flanked on either side by a U.S. soldier; it features an inscription reading “CUBAN PACIFICATION - 1906-1909.” The reverse features an eagle grasping weaponry; thirteen stars appear on the lower portion of the medal, and an inscription reading “UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS - FOR SERVICE” frames the eagle. The ribbon is black with thin vertical stripes in blue, white, and red proceeding outward to each edge.
