NATO Kosovo Medal Medal

History

The NATO Kosovo Medal honors military members and civilians who carried out service in support of NATO operations in Kosovo. To be eligible, individuals must have carried out 30 days of service in this region, consecutively or in agglomerate.

Awards of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) honor the members of international militaries who carry out service on NATO’s behalf. Established in 1949 through the North Atlantic Treaty, NATO is a group of allied international military forces committed to supporting one another in the event of conflict.

Details

To differentiate between the versions of the NATO Medal, a different ribbon pattern scheme is used for each of the decorations. The NATO Medal for Kosovo service appears as a mixed blue and white stripped ribbon, with white stripes on the side as well as a wide white central stripe.

For U.S. Forces, a bronze service star indicates additional awards of the NATO Medal.
