History

The Oregon National Guard Commendation Medal honors Oregon National Guard members who carry out outstanding service on behalf of the Guard.

The Oregon National Guard is composed of the Oregon Army National Guard and the Oregon Air National Guard. The Army component traces its roots back to 1843 and maintains 41 armories across 33 communities in the state. The Air component was founded in 1940 with the 123d Observation Squadron. It is currently based in Salem and is made up of the 142d Fighter Wing and 173rd Fighter Wing.

Details

The ribbon is bisected by a thin vertical white line flanked on either side by a thick vertical golden yellow stripe as well as thin stripes of white, dark blue, golden yellow, and dark blue proceeding outward to each edge.
