History

The Oregon National Guard Exceptional Service Medal honors Oregon National Guard members who distinguish themselves from their peers through outstanding service.

The Oregon National Guard is composed of the Oregon Army National Guard and the Oregon Air National Guard. The Army component traces its roots back to 1843 and maintains 41 armories across 33 communities in the state. The Air component was founded in 1940 with the 123d Observation Squadron. It is currently based in Salem and is made up of the 142d Fighter Wing and 173rd Fighter Wing.

The ribbon is dark blue with a thin vertical golden yellow stripe on each edge.
