History

The Texas State Guard Service Ribbon honors Texas State Guard members who honorably carry out three years of service in a consecutive term.

The Texas State Guard offers mission-ready forces to provide service to the state in emergencies and to carry out security and humanitarian service. With origins tracing back to Stephen F. Austin’s militia groups in the 1800s, the Texas State Guard is headquartered in Austin, and its motto is “Equal to the Task.” It features a Command Group, Engineer Group, Army and Air Components, Maritime Regiment, and Medical Brigade.
