The medal is bronze and features the Cuban Coat of Arms flanked on either side by a U.S. soldier; it features an inscription reading “CUBAN PACIFICATION - 1906-1909.” The reverse features an eagle grasping weaponry; thirteen stars appear on the lower portion of the medal, and an inscription reading “UNITED STATES NAVY - FOR SERVICE” frames the eagle. The ribbon is black with thin vertical stripes in blue, white, and red proceeding outward to each edge.
