Navy Reserve Medal

History - Established 1938

Established on September 12, 1938 and discontinued on September 12, 1958, the Navy Reserve Medal honored Navy Reservists who carried out ten years of uninterrupted service in the Naval Reserve, National Naval Volunteers, or local naval militias. It has been replaced by the Armed Forces Service Medal.

Details

The medal is bronze and features an eagle grasping an anchor; the reverse reads “UNITED STATES NAVAL RESERVE- FAITHFUL SERVICE.” The ribbon is red with a thin vertical yellow stripe and a thin vertical black stripe on each edge proceeding outward.
