Service dating back to January 23, 1979 is eligible and must have been carried out over a minimum term of thirty days.

The Georgia State Defense Force Unit Commander’s Award honors Georgia State Defense Force Units that demonstrate outstanding service to set themselves apart from other units.
The Georgia National Guard Olympic Support Ribbon honors Georgia National Guard members who carried out service during the Atlanta, Georgia Olympic Games, which took place in the summer of 1996.
The Georgia State Defense Force Legion of Merit Ribbon honors Georgia State Defense Force members for superior service or accomplishments in carrying out duties beyond those normally expected. Qualifying service must be of unusual difficulty or significance or performed in such a manner as to warrant special recognition; in the event of an award for sustained superior service, the honoree must have carried out a minimum of 10 years in the requisite outstanding capacity.
The Georgia State Defense Force Emergency Service School Ribbon honors Georgia State Defense Force members who complete five qualifying emergency response training courses.
