History

The second-highest award granted to civilians, the Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Award Medal is approved at the MAJCOM level. It is presented to civilian employees of the Air Force who demonstrate excellence in carrying out their duties for a minimum period of one year, to those who demonstrate notable initiative in improving procedures or protocols, or to those who otherwise contribute to general morale and performance.

Details

The medal is silver and features an eagle in front of a cloud and atop a shield bearing the Air Force Seal; a laurel wreath encircles the image. The ribbon is gray with a golden yellow vertical stripe in the center; this stripe is divided into fourths by three thin blue vertical stripes.
