Army National Guard Components Achievement Medal and Ribbon

History - Established 1971

Established on March 3, 1971, the Army National Guard Components Achievement Medal recognizes sustained honorable conduct in reservists and is the reserve equivalent of the Good Conduct Medal.

To be eligible for the award, reservists must have demonstrated honorable conduct for a term of three years (four years prior to March 28, 1995). Individuals are recommended for the award by commanders based on personal knowledge and observation as well as the individual’s official records.

Details

The medal features the shape of a twelve-pointed sun on a ridged medallion. In the center appears a laurel wreath encircling two crossed swords over a torch with a star on either side. The ribbon has a red central section flanked on either side by a thin vertical white stripe, a slightly thicker blue stripe, and a yellow stripe proceeding outward.

Oak leaf clusters may be issued to indicate additional awards
