Established by President George W. Bush in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Coast Guard Presidential Unit Citation honors United States Coast Guard units that served in relief efforts around the Gulf Coast. Efforts included rescue, cleanup, repairs and general support to civilians affected by the disaster.
The ribbon is white and features thin vertical dark blue stripe toward the center on each side as well as a thick orange stripe toward each edge.
The ribbon is issued with a hurricane device.
