History - Established 2007

Established on August 9, 2007, the Global War on Terrorism Civilian Service Medal honors the efforts of civilians supporting the Department of Defense and the United States Armed Forces in combating terrorism around the world.

Details

The medal features a female personification of liberty framed within a triangle with a laurel branch on either side and five stars on the lower portion of the medal. The reverse features a compass rose and an inscription reading “CIVILIAN SUPPORT - GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR.” The ribbon is bisected by a vertical yellow stripe bordered with red on both sides; proceeding outward on each side are a vertical black stripe, a thin light blue stripe followed by equally sized stripes of red, white, and blue as well as a thicker light blue stripe.
