History - Established 1986

Established in May 1986, the Navy Arctic Service Ribbon honors Navy and Marine Corps personnel who carry out a minimum of 28 days of service consecutively within the Arctic Circle. Civilians may be eligible for the award, which may be applied retroactively to January 1, 1982. For personnel whose service entailed duty at remote ice camps or work under the ice, each day counts as two in calculating eligibility.

Details

The ribbon is blue and is bisected by a thin black vertical stripe flanked on either side b thin stripes of blue, light blue, white, light blue, and blue proceeding outward.
