History - Established 1980

Established in May of 1980 and retroactive to August 15, 1974, the Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon honors United States Navy and Marine Corps personnel who carry out service with a deployed unit for 90 days consecutively, for two periods each of a minimum of 80 days within a one-year term, or six months at a forward-deployed overseas station.

The ribbon is bisected by a vertical aqua stripe flanked on either side by a thin stripe each of dark blue, yellow, red, and black.

Additional awards may be indicated by service stars.
