History

The Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award honors noteworthy contributions from civilians in the employ of the Navy or Marine Corps, typically of a lesser nature than would warrant the Navy Distinguished Civilian Service Award or the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award. It is the third most prestigious civilian award issued by the Department of the Navy.

Details

The medal is bronze and features the Navy crest encircled by dark blue enamel and an inscription reading “DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY - MERITORIOUS CIVILIAN SERVICE.” The ribbon is blue with three thin vertical gold stripes toward the center.
