History

The New Mexico National Guard Good Conduct Medal honors New Mexico National Guard members who carry out at least three years of honorable service.

The New Mexico National Guard is composed of the New Mexico Army National Guard and the New Mexico Air National Guard. The Army component originated as a territorial militia in 1846 and is headquartered in Santa Fe. The Air component, established in 1947 when the Air Force became a distinct branch of the United States military, is based in Albuquerque and consists of the 150th Fighter Wing.

The ribbon is dark blue and features a thin vertical white stripe toward each edge.

Subsequent awards may be indicated by bronze numeral devices.
