The United Nations Mission in Haiti Medal honors military personnel who carried out service in Haiti between the dates of September 23, 1993 and July 1, 1997, supporting peacekeeping operations and the stabilization of the nation following a government overthrow in 1991. Participation in the training of Haitian National Police is also eligible for the award.
The medal is bronze and features the United Nations emblem of a globe encircled by a laurel wreath. The letters “UN” appear at the top of the medal. The ribbon is light blue with a central section featuring a vertical blue stripe on the right adjacent to a vertical red stripe on the left; the stripes are flanked on either side by a thin white stripe.
