History

The World War II French Normandy Commemorative Ribbon is intended to recognize members of the United States Armed Forces who carried out service in the invasion of Normandy on June 6 of 1944.

Details

The medal features a geographical outline of the area overlaid with the flags of participating countries. An inscription on the left reads “OVERLORD,” “1944” on the right, and “UTAH,” “OMAHA,” “GOLD,” “JUNO,” and “SWORD” toward the bottom right. The ribbon features five equally sized stripes proceeding from right to left in red, orange, yellow, green, and blue.
