Established on July 1, 1979, the Kansas National Guard Meritorious Service Ribbon honors Kansas National Guard members who set themselves apart from their peers through a heroic feat or a sustained term of outstanding service exceeding expectations.
Established on October 1, 1995, the Kansas National Guard Medal of Excellence honors Kansas National Guard members, civilians, and public officials who perform outstanding service in a position of significant responsibility or who carry out acts of heroism typically involving the risk of life or injury. The act of life-saving does not in itself warrant the award.
The Kansas National Guard Homeland Defense Service Ribbon honors Kansas National Guard members and civilians who performed services related to homeland defense, generally in support of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Noble Eagle. The period of eligibility begins on September 11, 2001, and requires that 30 or more days of qualifying service have been carried out starting on or after that date.
Established on July 1, 1979, the Kansas National Guard Distinguished Service Medal honors Kansas National Guard members who carry out heroic acts or sustained outstanding service above and beyond normal duties and typically involving risk of life or injury. The act of saving a life may sufficiently qualify an individual for the award.
The Kansas National Guard Counter Drug Service Ribbon honors Kansas National Guard members who carry out service in designated counter-drug operations for a minimum term of 30 days consecutively, which may include initiatives to reduce demand and supply or address substance abuse in other ways.
This award is given to members of the Kansas National Guard for performing an act that provides significant benefit to his/her unit.
Established March 1, 1997, the Kansas National Guard Achievement Ribbon honors Kansas National Guard members who carry out excellent service or noteworthy accomplishments of a lesser degree than would warrant the Kansas National Guard Commendation Ribbon.
The Kansas Army National Guard State Emergency Duty Service Ribbon honors Kansas Army National Guard members who carry out service on behalf of the state in an emergency or other crisis as declared by the Governor.
The Kansas Air National Guard State Emergency Duty Service Ribbon honors Kansas Air National Guard members who carry out service on behalf of the state in an emergency or other crisis as declared by the Governor.
