Comprised of the Alaska Army National Guard and the Alaska Air National Guard, the Alaska sector of the United States National Guard numbers approximately 2,300 air guardsmen and 2,000 army guardsmen as of 2008. It operates an anti-missile launch site at Fort Greely.
