The Alabama National Guard Veterans Service Ribbon honors Alabama National Guard personnel who have carried out an aggregated 21 years of service.
Comprised of the Alabama Air National Guard and the Alabama Army National Guard, the Alabama National Guard is approximately 11,000 members strong as of 2006. It traces its origins back to militia activity during the War of 1812, and the Air component was officially added in 1917 with the inception of the 106th Aero Squadron.
The ribbon is red and is bisected by a thin vertical blue stripe; one thin white stripe and one thin blue stripe appear on each edge proceeding outward.
