The Alabama National Guard Operation Desert Storm Ribbon honors Alabama National Guard personnel who have carried out service in support of Operation Desert Storm or Operation Desert Shield.
Comprised of the Alabama Air National Guard and the Alabama Army National Guard, the Alabama National Guard is approximately 11,000 members strong as of 2006. It traces its origins back to militia activity during the War of 1812, and the Air component was officially added in 1917 with the inception of the 106th Aero Squadron.
The ribbon is white and is bisected by a vertical red stripe. A thinner blue stripe appears toward the center on each side, and a red stripe appears on each edge.
