Established in July of 1997, the Marine Corps Drill Instructor Ribbon honors Marine Corps members who satisfactorily carry out a three-year term as a drill instructor on or subsequent to October 6, 1952. To be eligible, individuals must possess a Military Occupational Speciality of 0911 or completing a tour in a position as listed below:
-Maine Corps officer Candidate Company First Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant, or Platoon Commander
-Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School Battalion Gunnery Sergeant, Class Drill Instructor, or First Sergeant
-Recruit Training Battalion Commander, Executive Officer, Sergeant Major, or S-3
-Recruit Training Assistant Series Commander, Company Commander, or Series Commander
The ribbon is green and is bisected by a thick vertical gold stripe.
