The Michigan National Guard Legion of Merit Medal honors Michigan National Guard members who carry out noteworthy service or achievements on behalf of or to advance the state of Michigan.
The Michigan National Guard is composed of the Michigan Army National Guard and the Michigan Air National Guard. The Army component is based in Lansing and traces its origins back to militia group in 1803; it currently maintains 60 armories. The Air component, also based in Lansing, originated in 1917 with the 107th Aero Squadron and currently consists of the 110th Attack Wing and the 127th Wing.
The ribbon is dark red with no additional decoration.
