The Michigan National Guard OCONUS Service Ribbon honors Michigan National Guard members who carry out honorable service for a minimum term of five days outside of the continental United States.
The Michigan National Guard is composed of the Michigan Army National Guard and the Michigan Air National Guard. The Army component is based in Lansing and traces its origins back to militia group in 1803; it currently maintains 60 armories. The Air component, also based in Lansing, originated in 1917 with the 107th Aero Squadron and currently consists of the 110th Attack Wing and the 127th Wing.
The ribbon features a thin band of blue, white, and red in the center, flanked on either side by thicker vertical stripes of yellow, black, and green proceeding outward toward each edge.
