The Minnesota National Guard State Active Duty Ribbon honors Minnesota National Guard members who carry out service in the event of an emergency or other crisis as declared by the Governor.
Consisting of the Minnesota Army National Guard and the Minnesota Air National Guard, the Minnesota National Guard totals approximately 13,000 members. The Army component, headquartered in St. Paul, originally formed as a militia in 1856. The Air component is also based in St. Paul and dates back to the 109th Squadron’s formation in 1921.
The ribbon is red with a thin vertical white stripe toward each edge and blue edging.
