Established in June of 1976, the Navy E Ribbon replaced the Battle Efficiency Award. It honors Navy members on ships that win battle efficiency competitions on or subsequent to July 1, 1974. Marine Corps members may be eligible for the award, though embarked individuals do not qualify.
The ribbon is dark blue with a thin vertical white stripe and thin vertical gold stripe on each edge proceeding outward.
Each instance of the award is indicated by a silver “E” device, and a single wreathed “E” is worn for more than three awards.
