History

The Operation Iraqi Freedom Commemorative ribbon is intended to honor service members who carried out duties related to the occupation and liberation of Iraq.

Details

In the center of the medal, a right-facing eagle sits atop Arabic script in green. The eagle has a shield on its chest in the Iraqi colors. A green ring encircles the image with the text “OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM” in gold and three stars on the bottom--one red, one white, and one blue. The ribbon features the red, white, and black striping of the Iraqi flag with thinner red, white, and blue edging.
