History - Established 1968

Established on February 21, 1968 and first bestowed in 1970, the Outstanding Airman of the Year Ribbon honors members of the United States Air Force who are nominated to compete in the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year Program. The program features three categories: Airman, Non-Commissioned Officer, and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer.

Details

The ribbon is blue and is bisected by a vertical white stripe flanked on either side by a thin dark blue stripe and a thin red stripe.

The ribbon may be accompanied by bronze service stars or bronze oak leaf clusters to indicate additional awards.
