History - Established 1946

Established on September 14, 1946 by the Philippine National Defense Forces, the Philippine Republic Presidential Unit Citation recognizes exceptional service during World War II on behalf of the Philippines as well as subsequent efforts since then. All United States military personnel who assisted the Philippines against hostile Japanese forces are eligible for the award. Qualifying terms and duties are listed below:

-Duties carried out in defense of the Philippine islands between December 7, 1941 and May 10, 1942
-Duties carried out in liberating the Philippine islands between October 17, 1944 and July 4, 1945
-Natural disaster relief efforts between August 1 and December 15,1970 as well as between July 21 and August 15, 1972
-Service at the Subic Bay United States Naval Hospital between August 1, 1987 and november 30, 1991
-Service on the USS Sterett between May 1989 and June 1999
-Counterterrorism efforts and training assistance between January 31, 2002 and July 31, 2002, including Joint Task Force 510 and the Joint Special Operations Task Force.

The ribbon is red, white, and blue. It features a gold frame with a leaf pattern.
