Established in 1900, the Maryland National Guard State Service Medal honors Maryland National Guard members who carry out five consecutive years of honorable service (from 1922 to 1971, the requirement stipulated 10 years).
The Maryland National Guard Recruiting Ribbon honors Maryland National Guard members who successfully bring about two new enlistments or who are responsible for retaining two enlisted individuals. Members serving in an official recruiting capacity are not eligible for the award. Members who can provide documentation of three or more enlistments before January 1987 may also be eligible for the award.
The Maryland National Guard Overseas Service Ribbon honors Maryland National Guard members who carry out service outside of the continental United States on or subsequent to August 2, 1990. Only one award may be granted per term; terms must last at least 30 days consecutively or 45 days nonconsecutively.
The Maryland National Guard Outstanding Unit Ribbon honors a Maryland National Guard unit each year that sets itself apart from other units through outstanding service, as determined by the Adjutant General.

The Maryland National Guard Meritorious Service Ribbon honors Maryland National Guard members, current or retired, who carry out noteworthy service on behalf of Maryland in a position of significant responsibility,
The Maryland National Guard Emergency Duty Ribbon honors Maryland National Guard members who carry out service in the event of an emergency or other crisis as designated by the governor; the operation must last at least eight hours and typically entails maintaining or restoring order, protecting property and wellbeing, aiding local authorities, or offering general relief.
Established in 1972, the Maryland National Guard Distinguished Service Cross honors Maryland National Guard members who execute acts of heroism while carrying out honorable service, typically involving positions or duties of significant responsibility.
The Maryland National Guard Commendation Medal honors Maryland National Guard members who carry out exceptional service on behalf of the state of Maryland in such a way as to set themselves apart from their peers and typically involving an act or heroism or sustained outstanding service. It may also be issued to members of friendly foreign forces.
