Georgia National Guard Defense Force Legion of Merit

The Georgia State Defense Force Legion of Merit Ribbon honors Georgia State Defense Force members for superior service or accomplishments in carrying out duties beyond those normally expected. Qualifying service must be of unusual difficulty or significance or performed in such a manner as to warrant special recognition; in the event of an award for sustained superior service, the honoree must have carried out a minimum of 10 years in the requisite outstanding capacity.

Fleet Marine Force

Created in 1984, the Fleet Marine Force Ribbon honors U.S. Navy members who carried out service with the Marine Corps between 1984 and 2006, demanding skills and qualifications in excess of those typically expected of Navy personnel. The award was discontinued in 2006 with the authorization of the Fleet Marine Force Qualified Officer Insignia and the Fleet Marine Force Enlisted Warfare Specialist programs.

D.O.T. 9-11 Medal

In the wake of the September 11 attacks, the Department of Transportation created awards to honor civilians and military personnel who assisted in subsequent relief efforts. The Transportation 9-11 Medal was established in 2002 to honor civilians and military personnel who carried out heroic and courageous acts directly following the September 11 attacks.
