Air and Space Campaign Medal

History - Established 2002

Created on April 24, 2002, the Air and Space Campaign Medal honors U.S. Air Force personnel who served in designated United States military combat operations as indicated by the Air Force Chief of Staff. Qualifying service may include sortie generation, surveillance, computer network operations, and other intelligence duties. In order to be eligible, recipients must have served in support of the designated operations for a minimum term of thirty days consecutively or a total of sixty days non-consecutively.

Allied Force, between the dates of March 24, 1999 and June 10, 1999
Noble Anvil, between the dates of March 24, 1999 and July 20, 1999
Kosovo Task Force Saber, March 31, 1999 and July 8, 1999
Kosovo Task Force Hunter, between the dates of April 1, 1999 and November 1, 1999
Allied Harbour, between the dates of April 4, 1999 and September 1, 1999
Sustain Hope/Shining Hope, between the dates of April 4, 1999 and July 10, 1999
Kosovo Task Force Hawk, between the dates of April 5, 1999 and June 24, 1999
Kosovo Task Force Falcon, between the dates of June 11, 1999 and a date as yet to be determined
Joint Guardian, between the dates of June 11, 1999 and a date as yet to be determined

Details

The medal depicts a right-facing eagle carrying a United States Shield, superimposed over a latticed globe. The ribbon is features a light blue center flanked by a thin white and thin light blue vertical stripe on each side. These are followed by a thicker dark blue, thin red, and thin light blue vertical stripe proceeding outward.

Service stars may be given for subsequent awards. Service related to the War on Terror is ineligible for this award at present.
