History

The Arkansas National Guard Federal Service Ribbon is granted at the discretion of the Arkansas Adjutant General to members of the Arkansas National Guard who have served in the event of a federal mobilization for a term of 30 days.

Approximately 8,000 soldiers are currently serving in the Arkansas Army National Guard, whose training facilities are located near For Smith and in North Little Rock. It was founded in 1804 as a Territorial Militia. The Arkansas Air National Guard, estimated at 2,500 members as of 2009, is based in North Little Rock and dates back to 1917.
