History
The Arkansas National Guard Service Ribbon honors Arkansas National Guard personnel who have served for a term of five years consecutively.
Approximately 8,000 soldiers are currently serving in the Arkansas Army National Guard, whose training facilities are located near For Smith and in North Little Rock. It was founded in 1804 as a Territorial Militia. The Arkansas Air National Guard, estimated at 2,500 members as of 2009, is based in North Little Rock and dates back to 1917.
