History

The Texas National Guard Faithful Service Medal honors Texas National Guard members who honorably carry out five years of exemplary service with the Guard.

The Texas National Guard is composed of the Texas Army National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. The Army component dates back to a militia established by Sam Houston in 1835; it currently numbers approximately 19,000 and operates 117 armories. The Air component, headquartered in Austin, traces back to the 111th Aero Squadron formed in 1917 in support of World War I efforts.

The ribbon is divided into three equal sections of red, yellow, and blue proceeding from right to left.
