The Texas State Guard Achievement Ribbon honors Texas State Guard members who carry out noteworthy service of a lesser degree than would warrant the Texas State Guard Commendation Medal.
The Texas State Guard offers mission-ready forces to provide service to the state in emergencies and to carry out security and humanitarian service. With origins tracing back to Stephen F. Austin’s militia groups in the 1800s, the Texas State Guard is headquartered in Austin, and its motto is “Equal to the Task.” It features a Command Group, Engineer Group, Army and Air Components, Maritime Regiment, and Medical Brigade.
The ribbon is bisected by a vertical yellow stripe flanked by thin alternating stripes of red, blue, and red. These are followed by a thick green vertical stripe and a thinner orange vertical stripe proceeding toward each edge.
