The Texas State Guard Meritorious Unit Citation honors Texas State Guard units that distinguish themselves from comparable units through service that exceeds standard expectations.
The Texas State Guard offers mission-ready forces to provide service to the state in emergencies and to carry out security and humanitarian service. With origins tracing back to Stephen F. Austin’s militia groups in the 1800s, the Texas State Guard is headquartered in Austin, and its motto is “Equal to the Task.” It features a Command Group, Engineer Group, Army and Air Components, Maritime Regiment, and Medical Brigade.
The ribbon features a thick blue central section flanked on either side by a thin vertical red stripe and a thicker green stripe proceeding outward to each edge; it also features a large gold frame with a leaf pattern.
