Kansas National Guard Medal of Excellence
Established on October 1, 1995, the Kansas National Guard Medal of Excellence honors Kansas National Guard members, civilians, and public officials who perform outstanding service in a position of significant responsibility or who carry out acts of heroism typically involving the risk of life or injury. The act of life-saving does not in itself warrant the award.
Kansas National Guard Homeland Defense
The Kansas National Guard Homeland Defense Service Ribbon honors Kansas National Guard members and civilians who performed services related to homeland defense, generally in support of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Noble Eagle. The period of eligibility begins on September 11, 2001, and requires that 30 or more days of qualifying service have been carried out starting on or after that date.
Kansas National Guard Distinguished Service Medal
Established on July 1, 1979, the Kansas National Guard Distinguished Service Medal honors Kansas National Guard members who carry out heroic acts or sustained outstanding service above and beyond normal duties and typically involving risk of life or injury. The act of saving a life may sufficiently qualify an individual for the award.
