Selected Marine Corps Reserve

Established in 1925 under the name “Fleet Marine Reserve Medal” and having assumed its current name in 1984, the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal honors Marine Corps Reservists who carry out a required term of service honorably and without incurring disciplinary action. Intervals of mobilization may not be counted toward this term.

Navy Reserve

Established on September 12, 1938 and discontinued on September 12, 1958, the Navy Reserve Medal honored Navy Reservists who carried out ten years of uninterrupted service in the Naval Reserve, National Naval Volunteers, or local naval militias.

Naval Reserve Meritorious Service

Established in 1962, the Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal honors Navy Reservists who carry out three (from 1997 onward) or four (prior to 1997) years of honorable service, including a minimum attendance rate of 85 percent at all scheduled drills.
