History

Intended to recognize United States Armed Forces members who served in support of the liberation of Kuwait through Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the Kuwait Liberation Commemorative Medal is designated for those who participated in these efforts between the dates of January 17, 1991 and February 28, 1991.

Details

The medal features an American flag in front of a palm tree. Text encircling the image reads “KUWAIT LIBERATION COMMEMORATIVE.” The ribbon is red and green with black edging to indicate the colors of the Kuwaiti flag, and it is bisected by a band of blue, white, and red. On the reverse side of the medal, an inscription reads “FIRST GULF WAR.”
